A network of cutting-edge MxPro 5 fire alarm panels with wireless detection has been installed at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade.
Established in 1905, the historic institution delivers programmes in a variety of chemical, biochemical, environmental, and material sciences and has built a reputation as a leader in basic and applied research in Serbia. The Faculty moved into a purpose-built facility on Karnegijeva Street, Belgrade in 1959, where students are taught in the 13,000 sq m building’s lecture theatres, classrooms, computing centres and laboratories.
The specialist facilities meant a versatile fire system, capable of meeting a diverse range of fire protection needs, was essential to protect the staff and students based in the large multidisciplinary building. Following the successful completion of work at the University’s School of Electrical Engineering, Advanced’s Serbian partner TVI Ltd once again turned to Advanced for a solution.
The system incorporated MxPro 5 panels and a variety of detector types to provide the versatility required for this complex project. Four panels were networked with both wired and wireless detectors allowing for design flexibility and straightforward installation, while the inclusion of beam detectors and linear heat detection cables ensured each area of the building is protected effectively.
Wireless technology offers an easy-to-install and cost-effective alternative to traditional wired systems, ensuring unprecedented fire detection, performance, scalability and reliability. Wireless systems are highly flexible, making them an ideal solution for a wide range of applications including education, industrial, retail, leisure, heritage, commercial, and healthcare environments. Meanwhile, modern technology ensures wireless devices work across thick walls and multiple building levels without requiring complex cable networks – even in large buildings like the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy.
Radomir Kerkez, Electrical Engineer at TVI Ltd, said: “Advanced panels are our go-to solution for easy installation and commissioning, and the addition of wireless devices simplifies this process even further. This not only expedites the project timeline but also enhances the overall system’s flexibility, ensuring adaptability to evolving needs.”
Vladimir Zrnic, European Sales Manager at Advanced, said: “This project is a fantastic example of the flexibility on offer when you incorporate wireless devices into your network. Whether deploying an all-wireless, all-wired, or a hybrid combination of both systems, the MxPro 5 panel stands as a versatile hub that effortlessly brings together these components catering to a diverse range of project requirements. The MxPro 5’s capability to effortlessly incorporate wireless detection devices ensures that regardless of the setup, customers can be confident their sites are kept safe with robust and reliable fire protection.”
