DIY SOS Children in Need Special, The Joshua Tree Charity

We are proud to have been able to support the BBC One DIY SOS Children in Need Special by donating an MxPro 5 fire alarm panel to The Joshua Tree Support Centre in Cheshire.

The Joshua Tree charity, founded by Dai and Lynda Hill, offers vital respite and support to families navigating childhood cancer, providing play spaces, therapy, and activities for children, as well as complementary treatments and support for parents and siblings. With demand for their services growing, the charity needed to expand its facilities to continue its life-changing work.

When DIY SOS and Children in Need took on the project, Advanced was approached to provide a fire alarm panel for the new centre. Phil Calvey, Regional Sales Manager at Advanced, commented: “We were delighted to donate our MxPro 5 panel to such a deserving cause. The Joshua Tree does incredible work supporting families through the toughest times, and it’s a privilege to help make their new centre as safe as possible.”

The installation was carried out by Nick Copeland and the team at Compass Complete Solutions, who volunteered their time and expertise to ensure the system was fitted and commissioned smoothly. Nick shared: “It was an honour to be involved in the Joshua Tree build. The MxPro 5 panel was straightforward to install and commission, and knowing it will help protect the children, families, and staff who use the centre makes it all worthwhile.”

The MxPro 5 is Advanced’s flagship addressable fire alarm panel, renowned for its reliability, flexibility, and ease of use. With powerful networking, intuitive configuration, and robust false alarm management, it’s trusted to protect people and property in a wide range of settings.

The DIY SOS reveal day brought together volunteers, tradespeople, and suppliers to celebrate the transformation of the centre. We’re grateful to have played a small part in this inspiring project and extend our thanks to everyone involved in making it happen. Congratulations to The Joshua Tree, DIY SOS, and all the volunteers and supporters who helped create a safe, supportive space for families in need.
